When should I cleanse & charge my crystals?
You can cleanse and charge your crystal at any time. If the crystal starts to look a bit dull or you feel the energy has gone flat or you’ve used it a lot or haven’t worked with it in months, its great just to rejuvenate it again. When you cleanse your crystal, you are getting rid of any negative/unwanted energies and it will be empty. Charging a crystal is bringing energy back into it. Like recharging a battery.
Cleansing your crystal
There are a variety of ways you can cleanse your crystal. Experiment with different ways and find one you prefer the most.
Water
The best water to use is spring water, rain water or filtered water. You can run crystals under water and imagine the flow of water taking away anything that the crystal is holding onto and washing it all away. You can also place your crystal in a glass or bowl of water and leave it there for however long you wish.

Smudging
You can smudge your crystal and your room/environment to cleanse it. You can use sage, Palo Santo or sweetgrass or any other type of incense. Simply burn the incense and let the smoke wrap itself around the crystal. You can also use the light of the candle by passing the crystal over the light of the candle and imaging the light cleansing and bringing light back into the crystal to recharge it.

Using other crystals
You can cleanse and charge your crystal using other crystals. You can place a crystal on top/inside of a cluster or geode to cleanse it. Quartz is the best one to use but you can use Citrine, Selenite and Carnelian to cleanse your crystal as these crystals are self-cleansing. Simply place your crystal next to one of these crystals and it’ll cleanse it for you!
Quartz, citrine, selenite, carnelian and kyanite cleanse themselves so therefore do not need cleaning.
Moon
You can also cleanse & charge your crystals under the full moon. You can either bury the crystal under the ground, leave on a windowsill under the full moon or just place it outside. Do this overnight and by the morning you will have some beautiful sparkly crystals infused with moon energy! You can do this at any time but with the full moon the energy is stronger and more powerful so it will work better.
Sunlight
You can leave your crystals outside in the sun for approx 30 mins – 1hr to cleanse and re-charge. It’s great if your crystal is looking dull as the sun will renew it with its beautiful golden energy. *Long exposure in the sun can result in the colour of your crystal fading so be mindful about how often you do this.*
Sound
Using a metal or crystal singing bowl can cleanse & charge your crystal. Simply place the crystal inside the singing bowl or play the singing bowl and let its vibrations go through the crystal.
Earth
Intention is the easiest method to cleanse & charge a crystal. Simply hold it in your hand and imagine all the crystal’s negativity being washed away by your intention. Hold the crystal in your hand and see/feel a white ray coming from your hand into the stone and cleansing it, then imagine the crystal being filled with the white light.
Crystals that should NOT be cleansed in water
If a crystal feels soft/weak/delicate then I would suggest not to cleanse it in water. This list contains crystals that could rust, get damaged or dissolve in water.
